Very fine example of this highly sought after Civil War weapon. Lock is marked “’U.S. SPRINGFIELD” with a wing spread eagle forward of the hammer. It is dated “1862” behind the hammer. The .58 caliber barrel is dated 1862 with correct double struck VP/EAGLE. All metal is smooth with semi-bright finish. The walnut stock is very fine plus with a pair of nice, deep inspector’s cartouches. The stock has some minor storage bruises and dings. Mechanically perfect and outstanding mirror bright bore! Superb example!  [ss]
