Made in Middletown, CT c.1862-64. Total quantity made 25,520. This fine example is dated on lock and barrel 1863. All markings on the lock are superb. Mechanically perfect. New Jersey contract with “N.J.” on side of barrel breech and on stock flat opposite the lockplate. Superb bright bore. Walnut stock also Excellent Plus with only a few minor dings. All metal smooth with plum patina.   [ss]
