The Smith & Wesson Model 320 manufactured between 1879 and 1887. Serial numbered to 977. This one is serial numbered “768” stamped on underside of the backstrap. This model was based heavily on the design of the SW New Model #3 Pistol. This model used a top break frame similar to the New Model #3 Pistol and featured a detachable shoulder stock.

The barrel measures 18 inches long with ribbed design with the SW patent info clearly visible on top. Two position rear sight, .320 caliber size, a special caliber cartridge was used. Six shot fluted cylinder. Traces of the original finish remain behind cylinder frame and around hammer. Forestock marbled red and black gutta percha in very good condition. Two piece red and black gutta percha grips with Smith & Wesson logo. Open grip has small section missing along bottom of the backstrap, other panel in fine condition.

The detachable shoulder stock has a blued finish yoke with approx. 50% remaining. Buttstock original to stock has SW logo embossed into the rubber buttplate. The threaded screw attached to the yoke adjusts to fit the pistol backstrap. Walnut has very minor wear, some scratches with one “ding” near bottom by buttplate. Mechanically perfect, all parts original to the firearm. Metal is a smooth gray patina.

Overall a nice example of this rare model Smith & Wesson Revolving Rifle with the original shoulder stock in very good condition.  [ws]
