Super Fine example! Lockplate marked “U.S. / SPRINGFIELD” forward of hammer dated 1864 behind hammer. Barrel dated 1864 at rear with VP/Eagle proof marks. Barrel metal is semi-bright and smooth as is the butt plate, barrel bands and ramrod. Hammer and lockplate with traces of case colors. Walnut stock is super fine with a pair of inspector’s cartouches. Overall a wonderful example. Mechanically perfect. Mint bore!  [ss]
