Barrel surface has turned a plumb brown over the majority of its surface and is in nice overall condition. Breech area shows some light pitting. Front blade sight is present as is correct flip-up leaf rear sight with sliding aperture. Three English viewer marks are present on the left side of the barrel at breech along with the number “25” stamped twice indicating the bore is .577 caliber. Bore is dark and dirty but does have rifling.

The lockplate and hammer are dark to match the barrel. Lock is marked with large crown behind the hammer and “1860 / TOWER” under the bolster. Hammer and trigger mechanics are strong and crisp.

Black walnut stock has original finish and a nice depth of color.  Initials “JB” carved on under side of stock in front of trigger guard.

One of the lockplate screws is missing as is the rear sling swivel. All three barrel bands are present. Correct ramrod is present with threaded tip. All brass furniture exhibits a mellow patina.  [jet]
