$2,150.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 1000-48

Overall the weapon meas. approx. 59.25 inches long. Barrel is .69 and has a lightly cleaned surface that has moderate scattered mottling with light pitting near the breech and a couple of small areas that have what look to be indentations from the teeth of a tool or plyers. Barrel has been converted to percussion by the drum method. There is no rear sight and the brass blade front sight is mounted on the rear of the double barrel band at front. Bayonet lug is present at bottom of muzzle. Barrel has no markings. Bore is dark and has built-up dirt and no doubt some pitting.

Lock and hammer are mostly dark. Lock has a rounded beveled front and an elongated point at rear which is flush with the wood. Forward of the hammer is a strong “N” under which is “CHARLEVILLE.” At rear of the lock is a very crisp “US.” Flat hammer has floral engraving on its side. Action has both half and full cock but the half-cock safety does not work. Original nipple is present on the drum but has been peened over by excessive dry firing over the years.

Stock has been lightly gone over. Butt has pronounced comb and on the right side between the first and second barrel band there are some slivers of wood missing from the top edge of the stock. The flat opposite the lock has a stamping of “US” in a circle. Iron lockplate escutcheon is stamped with the number “101.” Stock has a repair along right side of the barrel tang. A “V” shaped crack or break developed running from the end of the barrel tang to the end of the lockplate. This section of wood has been reinforced with two nails.

All three iron barrel bands are present and have a dark patina. The middle band is missing its retaining spring. Both sling swivels are also missing. Iron triggerguard have rounded elongated points on each end. All screw heads show light wear.

Iron buttonhead ramrod is present. Rammer is full length but the end opposite the buttonhead is buggered slightly.   [ad]
