HALL’S M1819 HARPERS FERRY PERCUSSION RIFLE DATED 1832

$1,950.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: G3870

A very nice Harpers Ferry arsenal, second production type specimen of the Model 1819 Hall’s Flintlock Rifle altered to percussion.

This single-shot breechloading longarm measures 52 ¾” long with a 32 5/8” long round barrel. Chambered for a .52 caliber round, breechblock pivots upward for loading and is released via a lever device that protrudes from the bottom of the stock forward of the trigger. All gun metal remains semi-bright with scattered patches of dark spotting.

Barrel has a small front sight that doubles as a bayonet lug and open notch rear sight sits atop the breech just behind the lower barrel band. Both sights are offset to the left to allow for sighting past the old flintlock pan and frizzen. Bore is bright and deeply rifled with sixteen lands and grooves set in a clockwise direction.

Breechblock retains case colors. Top flat of breechblock is stamped with “J. H. HALL / H. FERRY / US / 1832”. Stampings are clear but the date is thin. The iron trigger guard plate has the characteristic ‘pistol grip’ set to the rear of the guard bow. An iron sling swivel is riveted forward of guard with a second swivel riveted at the middle barrel band. Button-head ramrod is complete with threaded end. Barrel is secured to the stock via three-barrel bands each using a pin fastener; no band springs. Mechanics crisp.

Black walnut full-length stock is in very good condition. Has normal dings and dents due to age and use. No cartouche visible. Entire stock exhibits a dark, pleasing patina and is stamped with a “W” on the flat underside. No cracks or chips.

A very nice Model 1819 breech loading Hall rifle made at Harper’s Ferry.   [jet]
