In 1867 and 1868 Springfield Armory produced only 424 Model 1867 Cadets. Manufactured in .50 caliber, it is a scaled down model 1866-second model Allin. It is made with two bands and no sling swivels. Lockplate is marked eagle and US/Springfield with the date 1867 at the rear. Breechblock has noticeable deep cutouts and is marked 1866 over eagle on top. All iron parts are a gun metal gray with dark spots throughout. Rifling is good and the bore has a few spots of minor pitting. Walnut stock shows dings and scratches from normal use. Part of a cartouche is still visible. Rare gun.
