This is a Harpers Ferry manufactured musket that is an originally a .69 caliber flintlock musket. The lockplate is marked “HARPERS FERRY / 1824” vertically behind the hammer and forward of the hammer is an American eagle motif above “US”. The barrel is marked at the breech “VP” over the eagle head. The bore is dark with some pitting. All other iron parts are a mixed gray / plum patina. The wood is a dark patina with honest age and use.
