Nice clean hand colored print showing the battle of Gettysburg as envisioned by the Magnus Company. In the foreground are General Meade and staff mounted on horses. Just in front of them is an artillery piece on raised ground belching forth smoke and fire. Out before them stretches an open plain with hills in the distance. The plain is covered with lines of infantry doing battle while cavalry charges and artillery moves into position. There are some wounded and dead figures scattered in the foreground as well as one man holding up a captured Confederate battle flag in triumph.

The colors on the print are still strong. There are one or two scattered age spots across the top and some slight waviness along one edge. Across the bottom of the image is the title “BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG, PA. JULY 3RD 1863.” Between the title and the bottom of the image is the copy-write information dating the print to the year of the battle.

Framed the item meas. approx. 28.50 inches wide x 23.25 inches high. The edge of the wood frame is wide and meas. approx. 2.75 inches. The frame is in good condition and looks to be the original. The back has a newer paper seal and new wire for hanging.
