PATTERN 1839 CARTRIDGE BOX PLATE RECOVERED AT GETTYSBURG

$350.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 173-610

The face of this plate is clean and smooth with a nice rich, deep, dark patina. There is one small barely perceptible dent on the edge above the letter “S.” There are also very small amounts of green discoloration around the edge and the base of the letters. The reverse has 100% of the lead fill but no hooks.

This plate was recovered by the late Elwood Cullison along the Taneytown Road near the position of the Union Reserve Artillery. This area is just behind the part of the Union line where Pickett’s Charge struck on July 3rd.
