This collection of relics from the Battle of Gettysburg was found where, on July 2, 1863, Union artillery batteries fired across the Emmitsburg Road into the Sherfy Farm to stop Barksdale’s Mississippians in their charge on the Peach Orchard. The grouping includes two 12 pound US spherical shell fragments with 8 case shot found nearby, 2 pieces of the Borman fuse section of a spherical shell, 2 different sized canister balls and a grape canister ball.
These items were found by John Cullison of Gettysburg; they were then sold to the Rosensteel family of Gettysburg for addition to their collection.
