SECTION OF 3 INCH HOTCHKISS SHELL FROM LEE’S HEADQUARTERS MUSEUM

$495.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 678-191

This large fragment of a US 3-inch Hotchkiss shell includes the base cup and half of the nose. When the shell was fired the sabot blew off and upon detonation only the top of the shell ruptured. Despite the sabot being gone the base cup is still firmly attached to the base of the nose. Barely visible around the edge of the base is some of the lettering from the Patent information.

This piece is from the well-known collection of the Lee’s Headquarters Museum and was recovered on Benner’s Hill.
