Made for the civilian market, this copper / brass powder flask was once part of the famous Rosensteel Collection at the Gettysburg Battlefield National Park. Device has the conventional tear-shaped body with a smooth undecorated design. Used with a percussion pistol or longarm, this flask is complete and equipped with a screw-off flask top, brass collar, adjustable charger, thumb-piece cutter and loading rim, all in working condition. In very good condition, flask measures 8 3/8” long and has a 3½” wide swell.
Constructed of sheet brass, the artifact bears maker markings on the flask top with “AM. FLASK & CAP CO.” Body seams are tight and strong with no separation. Four small copper swivel rings attached to the flask at the upper neck and at the body swell hold the attached carry cord made of thick twine. Flask device wears a dark bronze patina with scattered dark, aged spots. Body has normal amount of tiny dings from use and storage. A great civilian powder flask in very good condition from the Gettysburg Rosensteel Collection.
