This item is from a group of Gettysburg relics acquired by The Horse Soldier from an auction held May 9 - 10, 2008 at Redding Auction Service in Gettysburg. All of these relics were recovered by lifelong local resident Ed Miller, an individual who is well known to the Small family. Mr. Miller was an active relic hunter from the 1960's into the 1980's.
Mr. Miller recovered this Enfield rifle musket hammer and breech plug on the 1st day's battlefield along Route 30 West where Willoughby Run meets. Minor iron loss to backside of hammer. Both parts have moderate surface rust. In untouched condition. Comes with auction listing.
