This riker box display contains a dropped Union three ring minie ball and a dropped Confederate Gardner bullet. Also in the box is a Pattern 1839 oval “US” plate meant for wear on the outer flap of the Union soldier’s cartridge box. This plate is from the famous Rosensteel collection which formed the basis of the present Gettysburg National Military Park collection. The surface of the plate is dark with a rough finish from ground action. The reverse is devoid of hooks but has 90% of the lead fill.
