This small booklet, entitled “HISTORY OF CORPORAL SKELLY POST MONUMENT WITH A LIST OF THE NAMES OF ADAMS COUNTY SOLDIERS WHO DIED IN THE SERVICE OF THEIR COUNTRY, 1861-165, TOGETHER WITH THE Address of Hon. Edw. McPherson, DELIVERED AT ITS DEDICATION, FEBRUARY 22D, 1892”, was printed by J. E. Wible, Printer, Carlisle Street (Second Square), Gettysburg, in 1893.

The booklet contains a description of how the monument, which still stands in front of the GAR Hall on East Middle Street, came into being. Also contains the text of an appeal to the citizens of Adams County for monetary donations for the cost of the monument ($3,000.00). The speech given by the Hon. Edw. McPherson upon the dedication of the monument makes up the bulk of the contents of the booklet. At the end is a list of the names on the monument.

Overall good condition; heavy paper covers show wear along edges and corners. Two pages have minor creases.
