Three piece New York coat button with an eagle perched on an Excelsior shield surrounded by stars and the word “EXCELSIOR” across the bottom. The face is excellent with only minor discolorations. Almost all of the original gilt remains. Reverse has no shank and an almost obliterated back mark. Some wording can be detected but not read. Maker’s mark is raised in a depressed channel.
