The first, larger badge is for a joint reunion of the 71^st Pennsylvania Infantry (known as the California Regiment), and Pickett’s Division at Gettysburg on July 2 – 4 in 1887.  The 71^st PA dedicated their monument along the stone wall near the High Water Mark on July 2^nd.   The badge is half blue and half gray, with a section of gold braid along the top with a pin on the reverse. Gold bullion fringe (1 5/8” in length) is attached along the bottom edge. Overall the ribbon measures 7 ¾” x 2”.  Written in gold lettering on the ribbon is “CALIFORNIA REGIMENT / 71 PA. / DEDICATION OF MONUMENT / AND RECEPTION / OF / Picketts Division / GETTYSBURG, PA. / JULY, 2 – 3 – 4. / 1887”.  Maker’s tag on reverse, “D. J. GALLAGHER / & CO., / Manufacturers / 420 Library St. / PHILADELPHIA”.

The second ribbon has three small ribbons, one each red, white and blue measuring 3 ¾” in length, which are attached to a blue and white thread covered button (3/4” in dia.) with a stick pin on reverse. The ribbons have gold lettering reading “REUNION SEPT. 6, 1899 / 71^ST PENNA VOL. / CALIFORNIA REGT.”

Both ribbons are in overall very fine condition, showing very minor wear.
