Stereo is by Mumper and shows the grounds of the Gettysburg National Cemetery almost in its entirety. The camera was placed on the viewing platform of a wooden observation tower that once stood on East Cemetery Hill. From this vantage point the cemetery gate along the Baltimore Pike, the Reynolds statue just inside that gate and the Soldiers National Monument along with the cemetery gravestones can clearly be seen. At the time this image was taken a number of flower urns decorated the cemetery proper and these are clearly visible. The mount is stamped with a caption that reads “GENERAL VIEW OF NATIONAL CEMETERY.”

The image has good contrast and clarity with light surface dirt around the edges and on the cream colored mount. The upper left edge of the mount has a small chip. The reverse has an advertisement for Mumper and a list of some of his other Gettysburg views.
