This relic was recovered by a local Gettysburg family (Gilbert) on their farm along the Taneytown Road after the battle of Gettysburg.

The item is a large roller buckle that meas. approx. 2.25 x 2.00 inches. It has a light coating of surface rust but is in good relic condition. The roller still moves as does the tongue, slightly. Still attached to it is a solid piece of leather with a leather keeper. This leather piece meas. 2.00 x 3.00 inches and then splits into two smaller pieces. It is believed that the buckle is off of a saddle girth strap.
