Small white metal lapel button in the shape of a rooster. It meas. approx. 0.75 x 0.75 of an inch with “COX” stamped across the chest. The original stud is still present on the back.
James M. Cox and his running mate Franklin D. Roosevelt were the Democratic nominees in the presidential election of 1920. When the votes were counted on November 2, the Cox-Roosevelt ticket was soundly defeated by the Republican Harding-Coolidge ticket, losing by over seven million popular votes. Because the campaign was severely underfinanced, presidential political buttons of Cox are rare.
This item was recovered at the site of a Colonial house near East Cavalry Field.
