This relic was recovered by a local Gettysburg family (Gilbert) on their farm along the Taneytown Road after the battle of Gettysburg.

The item is a small iron cup with a long spike attached to the bottom. It meas. approx. 2.25 inches long and is covered with a coat of surface rust. These candle holders are often seen and are found on many campsites and battlefields of the Civil War. Always a popular item with collectors.
