This relic was recovered by a local Gettysburg family (Gilbert) on their farm along the Taneytown Road after the battle of Gettysburg.

The item is a small piece of flax that was used for cleaning muskets. The piece meas. approx. 2.50 inches long and is in good condition. This item had to be recovered in the days following the battle as by its very nature it would not survive long exposed to the elements.
