This is the Confederate brass adapter with the threaded body and a wide collar at top. Collar has two parallel holes for wrench to screw it tightly in place. The center has a hole drilled for placement of a paper time fuse. This particular adapter still has the paper body of the fuse present though the powder is gone.

Item was recovered in the area of Culp’s Hill.
