Model 1835 socket bayonet in good condition. The metal surfaces show some light mottling but there is no rust or pitting. The locking ring moves freely and the blade flat is stamped with a “U.S.”
This item is from the collection of the well-known Lee’s Headquarters Museum which closed its doors in late 2014. The museum opened in the 1920’s and stood on US Route 30 just west of Gettysburg.
This item was listed in a museum inventory that dated from the 1930’s or 40’s.
