The relics were recovered on Pickett’s Charge field by John Cullison, a local Gettysburg resident, who excavated relics on the field from 1935-1959.

Cullison sold his collection to the famed Gettysburg Rosensteel family, who held these relics in their private collection until released in 1996.

The items in the relic box include:

  1. a flagpole tip finial
  2. US First Corps hat badge
  3. two CS .58 caliber Nose Cast minie balls
  4. US Williams Cleaner bullet, Soldier’s camp knife
  5. two .577 Enfield bullets
  6. .36 caliber Colt Navy pistol ball
  7. sword scabbard tip to Officer Sword (still showing some brass)
  8. two .58 caliber US minie balls, Spencer .56 caliber cartridge base
  9. Soldier’s razor blade, fired CS .58 caliber minie ball, crude CS sword scabbard ring
  10. .44 caliber Colt Army bullet
  11. two CS .58 caliber two-ring Gardner minie balls.
