Made for the civilian market, this copper / brass powder flask was once part of the famous Rosensteel Collection at the Gettysburg Battlefield National Park. Device has the conventional tear-shaped body with a scroll / shell design that appears on both faces of the flask. Top is stamped with maker “AM. FLASK & CAP CO.” Used with a percussion pistol or longarm, this flask is complete and equipped with a screw-off flask top, brass collar, adjustable charger, thumb-piece cutter and loading rim, all in working condition. In excellent condition, flask measures 8¼” long and has a 3¼” wide swell. Constructed of sheet brass, the artifact’s body seams are very tight and strong with no separation. Four small copper swivel rings attached to the flask at the upper neck and at the body swell made to hold a carry cord.  Flask device wears a pleasing mellow bronze patina. Body is fine save for one small light dent at the bottom left. No other dings. A very fine civilian powder flask from the Gettysburg Rosensteel Collection.
