This is an 1880 or 90’s copy of a Brady image showing John Burns seated in a rocking chair in his stocking feet recovering from his wounds. His trusty musket is leaning against the building next to him with his crutches on the opposite side. The ground has been tinted green
The view is clear but not clean. There is a good amount of surface dirt and some light water staining.
The mount is a cream or brown color. One edge is marked “1861 THE WAR FOR THE UNION 1865” while the other edge is marked “1861 PHOTOGRTAPHIC WAR HISTORY 1865.” The bottom edge has a caption that reads “2401 THE HERO OF GETTYSBURG.”
The reverse has an expanded caption and a write up about the quality of the war images produced by The War Photograph & Exhibition Company.
