This bronze medal consists of three pieces. The top bar is a spread-winged eagle perched on a patriotic shield. Superimposed over this is a riband that reads “NEW YORK.” The reverse side of this top piece still retains the original working pin.

The next piece is a bar suspended by two five-link chains from the top piece. The bar reads “VETERAN.”

The last piece is the circular drop which is suspended from the bar above it by two three-link chains. The drop is decorated with the monument to General George Sears Greene on Culp’s Hill at center. The monument is surrounded by an oak leaf wreath and the wording “DEDICATION BRONZE STATUE OF GEN. GREENE GETTYSBURG SEPT. 27, 1907.”

Medal is in excellent condition.

General Greene commanded the small brigade that defended the summit of Culp’s Hill on the night of July 2, 1863 and kept the Confederates from capturing the important hill.
