Relics recovered on Pickett’s Charge field by local Gettysburg resident John Cullison, who excavated relics on the field from 1935-1959. Cullison sold his collection to the famed Gettysburg Rosensteel family, whole held these relics in their private collection until released in 1996.

Relic box includes:

  • two 12 pound spherical shell fragments
  • lead sabot fragment
  • two fired .58 caliber C.S. 2-ring Gardner Minie Balls
  • U.S. “Eagle” coat button with shank
  • seven fired and deformed Minie Balls
  • U.S. steel case shot
  • two dropped .58 caliber Minie Balls
  • intact, dropped .52 caliber Spencer cartridge for rifle or carbine
  • fired U.S. Williams Cleaner bullet
  • fired .577 caliber Enfield bullet
  • field-made .69 caliber musket ball with sprue
  • New York state “Excelsior” button – no back
