Two pieces of a U.S. Model 1858 New York depot canteen show very heavy rust and pitting and have been coated in shellac. No spout; two sling keepers remain.

Recovered by noted local relic hunter John Cullison from the Valley of Death, who excavated relics on the battlefield from 1935-1959; Cullison sold his collection to the famed Gettysburg Rosensteel family, who held the primary collection of Gettysburg artifacts.
