Relics were recovered on Pickett’s Charge field by John Cullison, a local Gettysburg resident, who excavated relics on the field from 1935-1959.

Cullison sold his collection to the famed Gettysburg Rosensteel family, who held these relics in their private collection until released in 1996.

The items in the relic box include:

  • CS 12 pound spherical case shot top for copper fuse plug
  • two case shot- one showing sprue
  • CS .577 caliber Enfield bullet with boxwood plug intact
  • .36 caliber ball for Colt Navy revolver
  • US/CS 10 pound Parrott fragment
  • two fired CS .58 caliber Gardner minie balls
  • two Enfield .577 caliber bullets
  • large section of US lead sabot
  • two US .58 caliber minie balls
  • intact Williams cleaner bullet
  • US .44 caliber Bartholow bullet for Colt Army revolver
  • CS hand forged cannon trail pointing ring
  • fired .69 caliber musket ball
  • two CS .58 caliber Nosecast minie balls.
