US 3 inch canister round in very good, complete condition. Tin body is intact with only some minor dents on one side and a little dirt here and there. The top with crimped edges is intact with some very light rust. The wooden sabot is also intact and is in good shape, with only some small dings consistent with age.
This round was once part of the local Gettysburg Rosensteel Family collection, from the Little Round Top Museum. The Little Round Top Museum was owned by John H. Rosensteel. As a small boy, John had lived through the battle and began collecting relics as soon as it ended, if not before. When the museum closed many of the artifacts were transferred to the Electric Map display at the National Park. Mr. Rosensteel kept a few pieces to pass down in the family.
