Image shows two couples posed around a cannon on Little Round Top. Visible in the immediate background is the monument to the 44th New York and just to the right of it is the monument to the 140th New York. The distant background is filled with Big Round Top and visible on its summit is the observation tower that once stood there.

The subjects of the image are posed with one gentleman sitting on the trail of a cannon while the other leans against a wheel. Of the two ladies one is posed leaning on the cannon’s breech while the other rests her left arm on a wheel. Both men wear dark suits and straw hats while the ladies wear dark skirts with light blouses and have matching dark bows in their hair.

Detail on the image is good but the contrast could be a little darker. All details are clear. The left side of the image has four small dark spots that look to be defects in the negative from which the image was made.

Image size is 9.00 x 7.00 inches and comes mounted on dark heavy stock that meas. approx. 12.00 x 10.00 inches. Lower right of mount is impressed with “M. F. WILLIAMS / GETTYSBURG, PA.”

Reverse is blank except for some photographer’s notes in period pencil.
