Uncleaned nose and body portion of a US Hotchkiss shell in dug condition. No base cup, and no sabot. Fuse plug remains intact, and would have taken a paper time fuse. Surface shows moderate to heavy rust and pitting. Recovered from Gettysburg on the Daniel Lady farm, about 600 yards east of the barn.    [jt]
