Uncleaned nose and body portion of a US Hotchkiss shell in dug condition. No base cup, and no sabot. Fuse plug remains intact and would have taken a paper time fuse. Three flame grooves are visible along the body. Surface shows heavy rust and pitting. Recovered from Gettysburg on the Daniel Lady farm, about 600 yards east of the barn.    [jt]
