Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 513-27

Originally sold by us in 1999 and listed in our print catalog #28 as catalog# LH205, item# 244-15. This M1858 bullseye canteen retains a portion of its cloth cover; one side is in very good, though soiled condition. The opposite side is mostly missing. Retains its stopper with chain as well as 3 sling keepers. Carved into the spout are the letters “F.H.”.

In the Spring of 1922 the Thompson House, located on Route 30 west of Gettysburg and used by Gen. Lee as his headquarters during the battle, was opened to the public as the Lee Museum by Mr. C. F. Daley who began displaying artifacts and relics found on the battlefield and brought back to town by visiting veterans. Since that time, the museum was in continuous operations under different ownership until the property was purchased by The Civil War Trust in 2014. The house and surrounding land have recently been returned to their 1863 appearance.   [LD]
