Confederate Read case-shot with lead side-loader plug and brass time fuse adapter, which would have taken a paper time fuse. Sabot shows signs of rifling from firing. Relic shows heavy surface rust and pitting. Recovered from the woods off Taneytown Road, East of the Pennsylvania Monument. This artillery shell is from the collection of the Rosensteel family of Gettysburg, PA and was an early battlefield pick up from a location that at the time was not owned by the federal government.
