This is a .58 caliber, 3-groove Williams “cleaner” type I bullet that was fired and struck a tree, with the profile of the ball visible. Bullet has been glued in place to keep it from separating from the wood. Remaining portion of wood is approximately 6” long x 1 1/2” wide. Remaining wood is solid. Recovered in the 1960s, in woods southeast slope of Culp’s Hill at Gettysburg by Iva Rosensteel-Rider. [jet]
