This fine veteran’s cane is made of ebony. Top of cane has a gold handle with a beautiful design. Etched on the handle is “PRESENTED TO W. R. TUBBS BY ENT. POST NO. 50 G.A.R.”. Bottom of cane missing the brass tip.

Cane measures 33 ½” long. Wood has some very light surface scuffs and scratches, mostly at the lower half.

William Tubbs enlisted on August 22, 1862 as a Private and was mustered into Co. “F”, 149th PA Infantry. He is listed as wounded on July 1, 1863 for a gunshot wound in the leg at the Battle of Gettysburg. On October 17, 1864 he was transferred into Veteran Reserve Corps. He was discharged on July 3, 1865.
