$1,250.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 635-166

This stamping die is made of brass and was used to cast the medals which were presented to the veterans at the 75th reunion of the battle. There were 2000 medals minted, with 1845 of these actually given to the veterans. The alignment of the die matches the medals exactly. Die features the image of seven berries on olive branches and two acorns in oak leaves. Encircling the image are the words, “75TH ANNIVERSARY BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG”. Information on the medals and reunion is available in the book, “Pennsylvania at Gettysburg”. Also included is a clay disk which was stamped with the die.

Each side of die measures 1 7/8” x ¼” thick.

This is a nice, vintage and very rare Gettysburg collectible.    [sm]
