Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 910-12

This is a piece of wood cut into a shield shape that meas. approx. 3.25 wide x 4.25 long x 0.50 inch thick. The surface of the wood has been painted gray and three bullets have been attached. Two are .58 round balls that are each marked “MUSKET BALL” in gray paint and the third is a .58 conical bullet marked “MINNIE BALL.” All bullets are in good dropped condition.  Above the bullets at the top of the shield is “GETTYSBURG, PA.” stamped in gray ink. The wood is in good condition with some light surface dirt. The stamping is difficult to see because of the gray ink used on gray paint.

This item dates from the 1950’s and represents the types of souvenirs sold at the Electric Map Museum during that period. This specimen comes right from the Rosensteel family’s personal collection and was directly obtained from a family member. The Rosensteel family was the creators and proprietors of the Electric Map Museum in Gettysburg and their collection formed the basis for the present Gettysburg National Military Park collection.   [ad]
