This match safe is made of tin which has been wrapped in leather. Leather is embossed with, “BATTLEFIELD HOTEL / GOOD EATS- GOOD ROOMS / GETTYSBURG, PA”. The Battlefield Hotel was located at the intersection of Baltimore Street and Steinwehr Avenue in the area which is now a convenience store.
Tin on the ends has darkened with very light surface rust, leather has scuffs.
This is a nice, vintage Gettysburg collectible from 1940’s- 1950’s. [sm]
