Found north of the New Jersey Monument behind the stone wall. Face plate exhibits rusty greenish patina, w/chipped left edge and three small corrosion bumps; bent slightly concave, otherwise symmetrical. Reverse side retains most of its lead backing, attachment hooks rusted off. Else attractive, exuding considerable Gettysburg character. Solid collectible.
This relic was once part of the Iva Rosensteel Rider collection. Mrs. Rosensteel is the sister of George Rosensteel, who started the Electric Map museum in Gettysburg. Eventually, it became a part of the Rider collection in Gettysburg, which remained in the family until The Horse Soldier purchased the collection in 2016. [ad]
