Scalloped edged, square plate features an image of the monument to General George Meade on the Gettysburg battlefield. Edges of plate are tinted in pale green and crackled gold gilt. Lettering on monument reads, “BORN DECEMBER 31, 1815 / DIED NOVEMBER 6, 1872”. Below monument reads, “GEN. G. MEADE STATUE, GETTYSBURG”. Measures approximately 6 ¼” X 6 ¼”. Plate is free of chips or cracks. Underside of plate is maker marked, “HAMPSHIRE POTTERY / KEENE, N.H.”. It is signed by James S. Taft, who owned the company from 1871- 1916.
This is a nice, vintage Gettysburg collectible. [sl]
