This is a heavy pin-back medal made as a souvenir for the New York veterans present during the dedication of all the New York monuments at Gettysburg in 1893…during the 30th anniversary. A pin-back metal bar on the top has “JULY 1, 2, 3” over “GETTYSBURG VETERAN” on the front. Suspended by a single link is a heavy 1 3/4” round medal.  The front reads, “DEDICATION OF STATE MONUMENTS AT GETTYSBURG JULY 1, 2, 3, 1983 * NEW YORK DAY *” around the edge.  In the center is the New York state seal. The back of the round medallion shows a monument surrounded by a wreath and the dates “1863” and “1893”. A red, white and blue cloth ribbon is suspended from the rear. Medal is in very good condition with the medal wearing a tarnished copper appearance overall.  [jet]
