This is a .69 caliber Nesler bullet. These were made for North Carolina troops in Raleigh, NC, at the N.C. Institute for the Deaf, the Dumb, and the Blind.  This is the short pattern of this type of bullet.  It features a round nose, one deep groove, and a solid base.  Nice white patina.  This was recovered from the East Cavalry Field near Gettysburg by local resident John Cullison, who excavated relics on the field from 1935-1959. Cullison sold his collection to the famed Gettysburg Rosensteel family, who held the primary collection of Gettysburg artifacts.  [jet]
