Excavated stamped brass saddle shield.  Raised stamp “11½ INCH / SEAT” in center of shield.  Brown patina with some surface dirt remaining.  Recovered from a farm on the Taneytown Road outside of Gettysburg.  An oval escutcheon plate and small brass bracket were recovered with the shield and are included.   [jet]
