Dug canteen half retains entire spout. “GETTYSBURG 1863” is painted in beige lettering.

Civil War soldiers are known to have put canteens into a fire to melt the solder and separate the tin halves. They would use the halves as plates or frying pans.

Item is in good relic condition with heavy rust and pitting, but solid with no holes or cracks.  [sl]
